Hana Zidek and Mental Health Resource

Once a week, Hana Wynne supports Mental Health Resource as our very talented Social Media Volunteer.

Hana's roles include scheduling and posting across our 4 social media channels, researching the latest stats about mental health and even helping out at the Hub with sourcing donated supplies.

Here, Hana explains why she chose to support us.

Volunteer with Mental Health Resource!

"I had been looking to do something in the community to give back and had been considering some of the bigger charities.

It wasn't until a friend tragically lost their daughter, Lydia, in a car accident, that Mental Health Resource was brought to my attention.  Lydia had been actively fundraising for the charity, following the suicide of a close friend of hers.  The timing was such that it made me realise, as one does from time to time, how short and how precious life is so I thought why not go straight down there and volunteer now.

Frankly if their lovely daughter's legacy meant that I too could find a way to give back, then that would be something special even if just on a personal level.

And I am so glad I did.  I have so much admiration for the team there who work tirelessly to keep this charity funded, supported and available to the many many people who benefit from their services.

When you are a small charity you rely so heavily on community spirit, good will, local businesses and that is something I wanted to be a part of helping to grow.

I really hope in some way I can help make a difference, because even when you start out small, the tiniest things can have such a huge impact on someone's life and for me, that is what life is all about.  Connecting people and helping people live life as best they can.

Mental wellbeing is so important and cannot be underestimated.  I am just glad people are shouting about it finally".
